日本火山爆發造島 暫時還在

（法新社東京10日電） 科學家今天說，日本外海火山爆發造出的新小島至少現在看來會繼續存在，又說新的陸地可能有能力抵擋幾年的海水侵蝕。

一座海底火山上月開始爆發，大量噴出的熔岩在海面上冷卻並固化，在東京以南1000公里處造出一座小島。

日本海上保安廳當時說，要把小島標示進全國地圖還太早，因為小島可能很快會消失。

但是日本氣象廳今天說，小島看起來可維持一段時間。

氣象廳官員說：「由於火山還在持續噴發，我們無法預測小島未來命運如何。」

他說：「但是小島不會在幾天或幾週內消失，可能會維持幾年時間…除非再發生一次巨大火山爆發，把小島炸開。」

小島在本月稍早變大，已超過原始大小的3倍半，在12月4日之前已經長到0.056平方公里。（譯者：中央社羅苑韶）
